Introduction to Podcasts

Upcoming Webcasts | Webcast Archive | Podcasts

Podcasts provide an easy way to download audio content to your computer or portable audio player (such as an Apple iPod®, etc.) to listen to now or whenever you like in the future. You may choose to download a single podcast episode – or, by subscribing to a podcast, have the option to download future episodes automatically.

To Listen to a Single Episode

Right click the link next to this icon  and select "Save target as" if you're using Internet Explorer or  "Save link as" if you use Firefox.
Select the location on your hard drive where you want to store the audio file.
When the download completes, double click the audio file on your desktop. It will play in your computers default MP3 player, for example Windows Media Player or iTunes.

To Subscribe to a Podcast

Subscribing to a podcast feed requires a piece of software on your computer that will occasionally check to see if we've posted something new. Whenever there's a new piece of audio content on our site, you'll have the option of automatically downloading it.

To automatically download and synchronize files to play on your computer or portable audio player, you'll need to use a podcast client. iPodder is a free, open-source client that is available for Mac OS X, Windows & Linux. You can also use iTunes, FeedDemon or any number of alternatives available on the Web.

After you download and install your podcasting software, add our podcast feed. Instructions for adding feeds vary depending on the podcasting software you choose, but typically they go like this:

Identify the podcast to which you wish to subscribe.
In your web browser, right click the text or  image link to the podcast and select "Copy shortcut" or "Copy link location."
In your podcast software select "Add a new feed..." or "Subscribe to podcast..." (In iTunes, this is in the "Advanced" menu.)
Paste the podcast link into the pop-up and click "OK." You are now subscribed to the podcast.
