QMH4062

QMH4062 Dual Port 1Gbps iSCSI Expansion Card for HP c-Class BladeSystem HP  Part Number: 488074-B21.

QMH4062 iSCSI Expansion Card

The QMH4062 is a PCI Express to 1Gb iSCSI expansion card designed for the HP c-Class BladeSystem.

Virtualization Optimized
The QMH4062 supports 802.1Q VLAN and allows multiple logical networks to share the same physical network. The QMH4062 also supports 802.1p priority service by allowing each of the logical networks to have their own priority level.

Performance Optimized

By offloading the iSCSI and TCP/IP protocols to the adapter, the QMH4062 eliminates the processing, interrupts, and bus accesses required to support protocols in host software. The QMH4062 allows for initialization and server processor performance as good as Direct Attached Storage (DAS) and Fibre Channel SANs dependant on the application and system configuration.

Data Integrity Optimized

There is always the potential for iSCSI data to be corrupted while in memory or when it is transferred across the PCI bus. The QMH4062 can detect this type of data corruption by implementing iSCSI CRC digest. If an invalid CRC digest is detected, the receiver either properly marks the data as invalid or requests that the invalid data be resent.

Management Optimized
IT managers now have a choice when considering SAN management options. The QMH4062 provides connectivity to SANs using ubiquitous Ethernet and TCP/IP network infrastructures. The management of iSCSI solutions based on initiator software can vary widely between the various operating systems. However, the QMH4062 approach provides consistent graphical and command line management interfaces across all supported operating systems simplifying the SAN administrator's tasks.

Remote Boot Support
The QMH4062 is a full iSCSI offload solution. Therefore, iSCSI boot from SAN (booting an operating system (OS) from a remote LUN) can be performed in a single step without an additional boot server and software. Network administrators do not have to configure and manage the additional boot server that is required when a server using an Ethernet NIC and an iSCSI software initiator boot from SAN. The additional boot server is needed in a NIC/iSCSI software initiator configuration to provide the IP address and SCSI target information to the server that is booting the OS from across the SAN.
