Dr. Birnbaum has served as a Director since February 2005. Dr. Birnbaum has
served as a consultant in the technology industry since his retirement from Hewlett-
Packard Company in 1999 and he currently chairs the National Research Council
Committee on Improving Cyber Security Research in the United States. From 1981
until his retirement in 1999, Dr. Birnbaum held several executive positions with
Hewlett-Packard Company, including Senior Vice President for Research and
Development and Director of HP Laboratories. Prior to this, Dr. Birnbaum spent 15
years at International Business Machines Corporation where he last served as
Director of Computer Sciences.
